The Drug Regulatory Authority was established in 2004 to enforce the Medicines Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2003. The first Bhutan Medicines Board meeting was held on 14 June, 2004.

Since its establishment, the regulation of medicinal products in Bhutan has progressed with expansion of roles and functions such as regulation of Blood and Blood Products, Health Supplements and Medical Devices.
As we celebrate the foundation day today, we would like to reminisce the word of wisdom from His Majesty the King and Royal Kasho to reform Civil Service and rededicate our commitment and effort in ensuring medicines safety and quality in the country for better public health.

Coinciding with this foundation day we will be launching the DRA Newsletter and DRA annual report virtually today.
